James & Kaileen Stovern
We met 14 years ago in our high school production of “Pink Panther”, he was the male and I was the female lead. James always love to tell the story of when he knew he was going to marry me, “We had to kiss in the play, and being a teenage boy I was nervous and awkward about it. One day after rehearsals Kaileen walked up to me, pushed me into the wall and just kissed me. She said “there now it won’t be weird anymore.” As she walked away, I told my friends I am going to marry that girl someday.”
Now 14 years together, 9 years married, and 2 children later we are finally going to prom together. We are from the Fort Peck Indian reservation, I am an enrolled member. James works for Philips 66, and I am a full time student pursuing my degree in social work. We have two wonderful children, a 14 year old mini doodle, they fill our home with chaos, love, and laughter. James stood by my side as I struggled through grief of losing my father and two brothers in the span of 10 months, and continues to support and uplift me as I pursue my social work degree. I would love to be able to give him the vacation he deserves.
