Patient Advocate Program
Connecting Patients & Families With The Resources They Need During Their Medical Journey
Have you or one of your loved ones experienced the heartbreak and anxiety that comes with a medical complication for one of your children? There is nothing quite like knowing that your child is sick and there isn't anything you can do to take that burden off of them. Plus, you have the added complication of medical treatment that requires travel, school and work accommodations, learning medical terms you never had to know before, and so much more!
A medical diagnosis is all too common for children in Wyoming, and there is nothing that can prepare you for life after that diagnosis. The Olivia Caldwell Foundation recognized how incredibly difficult this reality is for families and came up with a solution that can help make things a little bit easier!
In the Fall of 2020 we partnered with The Orr's Hope Foundation and received a very generous grant from the McMurry Foundation that enabled us to expand our services further and hire a Patient Advocate! Our new Patient Advocate, Katelin Gitthens, is charged with becoming an expert in all the resources available to help Wyoming children and families who face medical complications. Katelin is also assisting The Orr's Hope Foundation with the distribution of the funds they have available to help families with premature infants and other complex medical conditions. Katelin is a tremendous resource for local families and will assist by providing emotional support throughout the family's journey.
Katelin can provide support and connections to resources that assist with travel expenses, childcare, school accommodations, medical support, food assistance, counseling, and anything else a family needs throughout their child's illness! Our philosophy is to provide WHOLE FAMILY CARE because the diagnosis is difficult for every person in the family!
