Caden Brown's Story
Born on October 24, 2010 Caden Brown was a joy to his family. He was always smiling, laughing and enjoyed playing with his two brothers and sister. He was an incredible young boy who battled very hard for being so young. Despite being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at just 22 months old, Caden never once let fear take over his life. Post diagnosis, he spent 2 months in between hospitals and inpatient rehab - where he had a total of 6 surgeries, followed by intensive therapy. He lost most of his strength on his left side after his surgeries to relieve fluid build up, de-bulk what tumor they could, and insert shunt systems into his tiny head. He also was put on a blood thinner after they found blood clots in his sinuses that could be life threatening.
Over the next 9 months, Caden amazed us all with his strength and courage. He came home on weekly chemotherapy, physical and occupational therapy, both two times per week, where he regained much of his left side movement (although he was still unable to walk) and taught us all what it was like to really fight. |
He adapted to his disabilities - learning to get around by scooting himself where he wanted to go, and gaining strength in his upper body. He spent the next 7 months at home, enjoying life to the fullest with his loved ones until June of 2013 when God called him Home to Heaven. Caden taught us all the meaning of life, love and faith - and proved to us the true meaning of a hero. Caden continues to inspire people all over the world, and his family vows to honor his life here on earth by continuing the fight for children fighting cancer everywhere.
