Stella Strong Funding Initiatives
Stella Strong believes firmly in doing whatever they can to find a cure for DIPG by supporting life-saving pediatric cancer research, and in supporting individuals and families in Converse County who are struggling with a medical diagnosis. Since Stella Strong began in 2017 they have supported a number of projects and families within their funding initiatives, including:
BREAKTHROUGH DIPG RESEARCH
In 2019 Stella Strong gave a donation of $12,700 to DIPG researchers at Children's Hospital Colorado. Their support enabled researchers to complete more life-saving work towards finding a cure for this horrific disease! Since last year's donation, researchers at CHCO published this paper that shows the first direct evidence from patients that systemic (oral or IV) chemotherapy can reach DIPG, which is a very hopeful step forward! They are also getting very close to opening a new clinical trial of Selinexor in combination with radiation for newly diagnosed DIPG and high-grade glioma patients. This trial will be the main Children's Oncology Group trial held nationally for patients.
Since then Stella Strong has given many more donations towards DIPG research to help researchers at CHCO continue to get closer to finding the much-needed cure for this currently unsurvivable disease.
